Scholarship Specific Criteria:
1. The student must possess the following characteristics: caring, compassion, nurturing, fun-loving, quirky, independent, loyal, and has the potential to succeed.
2. A letter of reference is required by a teacher or principal to substantiate the above characteristics.

Given to a student who has shown service-focused leadership to their or another rural or underserved community
With a clear and strong interest in practicing a primary care or other shortage specialty for which there is a documented need in a rural or underserved region
The student should have demonstrated personal, financial, access or other obstacles to obtaining their education
The student may be self-nominated. The student must complete a personal statement detailing their servant leadership experience and service to others, demonstrated as an outward focus on others' needs.
A curriculum vitae (CV), which highlights prior accomplishments in service and leadership and which includes contact information must be submitted.
The DCOM Scholarship Committee will review the applicant for meeting the essential criteria.

Guidelines
First priority to an Anderson County HS student entering LMU who wants to play in the LMU Pep Band; Second priority would be to a student who is interested in music. No GPA is attached. The first scholarship will be $500, then $600 each year following.

Lynn and Georgia Blake Scholarship

Full time nursing or medical laboratory students in the last two years of college at LMU Tennessee campuses are eligible.
2. Funds available to be spent annually from the General Fund will be up to $5,000 per full time student.
3. The scholarship money will be sent directly to the recipient’s school to be applied directly to their tuition.
4. If the scholarship recipient fails to graduate from their respective program within three (3) years from the awarding of the scholarship, the full amount of the scholarship must, except in cases of extreme hardship, be repaid within five (5) years from the awarding of the scholarship.
5. The recipient of the scholarship must show proof of graduation within six (6) months of their graduation from their respective programs.
6. No annual scholarship will exceed $5,000 per student, nor will any one individual receive awards over a period greater than two years and exceed a total of $10,000.
7. For the students to receive this award, the program in which a student is enrolled must be accredited.
8. The student /recipient must acknowledge these conditions in writing before the receipt of any scholarship proceeds.

Criteria per correspondence and agreement from U.S. District Court, Middle District of Tennessee, June 30, 2020:

First, the law school must use the funds only to provide scholarships to economically disadvantaged law students. All scholarship recipients must have demonstrated financial need in accordance with the usual standards of the law school. Scholarships may be awarded for any year of law school. Each scholarship recipient must be in good academic standing at the law school or the most recent school otherwise attended. This is not intended to be a merit or academic achievement based scholarship program. Our goal is to help broaden the Middle District of Tennessee bar through expanded opportunities for law students from all backgrounds.

Second, each scholarship recipient must be a resident of one of the counties in the Middle District of Tennessee. as defined in 28 U.S.C. § 123(b). The residency condition is included to benefit those students likely to practice law in the Middle District of Tennessee.

Third, the scholarships must be awarded only for law school tuition and may be awarded to multiple recipients in varying amounts. Judges and employees of the United States Courts, and their family members, are not eligible.
